I just read an article at HubSpot (I think) that discusses the difference in skills needed for PR and how they've changed from pre-Web 2.0 days vs. the present and Web 2.0 & beyond. Have the skills changed or just the mediums?

I think the media has dictated the skill set. But industry specific knowledge is always the foundation necessary prior to acquiring the skill set of "how" to get the message out.

Agree. The medium is driving the skill set. "Back in the day" we used to mail news releases. Thank goodness that's done. I wonder, "what skills will students in ag communications need?" What do you think?
